Bárbara Chimenti

Barbara Chimenti was born in Citta di Castello (Italy) in 1974. Already as a child she was mesmerized by the world of art and jewelry. In 1991, as the best student of the Art Institute of Sansepolcro, also in Italy, she earned a scholarship and graduated two years later.

As a student she was also working as designer in several jewelry workshops and companies in Tuscany. She taught herself design, styling and appreciation and valuation of precious stones and gems. With all this experience, she opened her own jewelry design centre in 1999.

In the following years she introduces herself to the Italian jewelry market, combining the design of jewelry with collaboration in the fashion world, designing  jewelry for fashion shows in Italy and also other countries - - reaching out as far as Taiwan. Starting in 2006 she enters the international market, participating in a great diversity of trade shows for jewelry and fashion accessories.

Barbara feels, that the value of a piece of jewelry or fashion jewelry is not simply in the value of its material, be it gold or silver, etc. but in the value created by the artisan through the design  itself. That is why her preferred metal is silver, as it allows her to work all her favorite techniques in the design of her jewelry.

At the beginning of 2008 Barbara’s sister joins the project to take care of the entire commercial side of the business. Thus, Barbara can now fully dedicate herself to the creation. She now also starts designing fashion accessories other than jewelry.

It is also in the year 2008 that Barbara creates her first collections of fashion jewelry for Chaverdi. They are the collections Caracol, Ego and Suite. All are silver plated and come with either pearls or black onix, the natural stone. The collections of Barbara have that special styling that Chaverdi looks for to give as a gift (maybe to yourself!)
